Gran Hotel Inglés
Gran Hotel Inglés is an iconic hotel located in the heart of Madrid. In 2018, the Hotel reopened its doors to the public after almost five years of being close. Due to its new opening, they were in a desperate need of a new website that will not only reinvigorate their brand, but also will increase revenues. With a very complex menu, including a Blog section, the idea was to create an easy and intuitive navigation while engaging the user to discover more details about the historic hotel.

The idea behind the concept was to create a layout based in editorial design inspired by fashion magazines and newspapers. The use of columns, big imagery plus typographic hierarchy were crucial to achieve the editorial look and feel without forgetting the important elements being on hand for a user-friendly experience. There was an abundant amount of information which required a cleaner and modern aesthetic for the overall look. The global nav was reorganized for an easier way finding structure.
The end result achieves a storytelling experience that feels like reading the newspaper and discovering great stories such as the one that Virginia Woolf was actually a guest of the hotel back in the twenties along with other famous artists and intellectuals. The layout design offers gratuitous white space for easy reading and a modern and contemporary feel. The use of big headings and drop caps guide the user through structured page layouts achieving a delightful experience without forgetting about usability and balance.
